How Are You Peeling? - Saxton Freymann & Joost Elffers

Lets have a Feelings Parade!

Emotions, good or bad, are inevitable. Encouraging children to identify these feelings at an early age is important for social and emotional development. In this program, youth are prompted to recognize and act out the many different emotions that can arise in various situations. Trained instructors will begin by reading How Are You Peeling? with the class, a book depicting a variety of emotions paired with illustrations of fruits and vegetables with expressive faces. Following the reading, instructors will guide children through a feelings parade of their own! So what is a feelings parade? It is a celebration of the complex world of feelings! Throughout the parade, instructors will prompt students to imagine various situations and then act out the feelings that might arise. This might involve striking a pose if we’re feeling confident or crossing our arms if we’re feeling frustrated. Children will be encouraged to get up and move their bodies and feel with their hearts.
